Vas’s business background began in the banking and finance industry in the late 1980s – with a focus on financial reconstruction and M&A activity. It wasn’t long, however, before Vas’s entrepreneurial skills emerged and in 1993 he helped establish Australian Mortgage Managers (AAM), a business which continues to grow today to have more than $500 million in loans under management. Vas remains the sole director of AMM. In 1995,Vas’s passion for flying and the aviation industry resulted in him founding National Aerospace Training and the Direct Air Charter company at Essendon Airport. For the next 15 years Vas and his team built that business across four states and 48 aircraft. At one point Vas Nikolovski was listed as the owner of the largest private fleet of aircraft in Australia. At the same time, Vas founded DASAR (Direct Air Search & Rescue) – a community based coastal aircraft surveillance program that continues to operate today run in partnership with Westpac Bank & Surf Life Saving Victoria.
Vas has stepped down from the CEO of the National Aerospace Training and Direct Air Charter business to pursue this project.
